Item #: SCP-9720

Object Class: Thaumiel

Special Containment Procedures: DS-HEAVEN is kept in a sealed records suite containing a single desk, a single chair, and a single stamp. Any stamped output is treated as a live anomaly and quarantined separately.

When active use is approved, no fewer than two archivists and one Surrealistics officer enter together, remain within line-of-sight of each other, and exit within fifteen minutes. Nothing is brought in except the target folder and nothing leaves except the same folder, regardless of outcome.

Description: DS-HEAVEN is a non-Euclidean office space accessed through a manifesting interior door and presenting as a single desk, lamp, and stamp bearing the phrase NOTHING EVER HAPPENS.

Application of the stamp to written records produces progressive dereferentialization of the described event. This involves documents developing omissions and involved persons/locations becoming increasingly difficult to identify, describe or recall.

These effects propagate through systems and witnesses that interact with the stamped record. Use is authorised for limited counter-narrative operations.

Records Integrity Notice (RAISA): Addenda are reproduced verbatim from primary sources. Standardization, paraphrase, and copyediting correlate with increased record-loss in DS-HEAVEN-adjacent materials. Minimal formatting changes only.

Addendum DS-HEAVEN-1: Discovery

The door appeared in the wall of a half-collapsed municipal office that had been shelled into a single corridor. The corridor ended in open air. The door opened anyway.

Inside was a room too clean for the front: one desk, one lamp, one stack of forms aligned to the millimetre. The clerk looked up mid-stroke. His pen stayed raised. He nodded once toward the chair opposite him. The stamp sat with fresh ink in its grooves; the letters were cut deep enough to catch the light. The handle was worn where a thumb would press.

A lieutenant entered with a casualty report and came out forty seconds later holding the same report. The ink was still wet. A diagonal imprint cut across the names.

Within an hour the roster system stopped returning those names. By evening, the after-action brief carried a ruled box labelled CASUALTIES. The box was empty. By morning, the unit's memorial board displayed fewer tags than the number of beds now empty. The tags were not missing.

The lieutenant kept insisting there had been more. He said it calmly. He said it politely. He kept saying it. He asked every hour until someone told him to stop.

Addendum DS-HEAVEN-2: Authorized Use (Excerpted Case File)

Surrealistics Command approved DS-HEAVEN for a single purpose: countering enemy narrative strikes that relied on documentation as a delivery mechanism. The first sanctioned test involved an intercepted propaganda packet, stamped and returned to sender. The broadcast that followed started clean. Then the announcer began reading from a page that no longer contained words. Field reports noted a lull across the sector. Lookouts stopped sweeping their optics. Radios went quiet without being ordered. Patrols returned early and could not explain why.

The second sanctioned test was smaller: a movement order that had been compromised by a paradox cipher. The stamped order ceased to be “wrong” in the familiar way; it became hard to read. The ink stayed. The meaning wouldn’t stay in the mind long enough to act on. The convoy did not move. The ambush did not occur. The enemy’s trap had nothing to bite.

On the third request, a staff officer submitted a folder marked “INCIDENT SUMMARY” with a hand-written note: make this go away. The folder contained civilian counts, names, photographs, and signatures. The request was denied. The officer resubmitted it under a new title. The denial came faster.

Two days later, the officer filed a complaint that the department “refused to support the war effort.” The complaint arrived with half its lines missing, like the writer had grown bored halfway through his own accusation. The signature at the bottom was crisp. The name above it did not resolve in any personnel database.

Subsequent unauthorized access attempts increased following dissemination of DS-HEAVEN operational summaries.

Addendum DS-HEAVEN-3: Clerk Interaction Log (Partial Transcript)

Participants: Dr. S. (Surrealistics Liaison), DS-HEAVEN Clerk
Context: Controlled entry, stamp secured, no documents presented.

Dr. S.: Identify yourself for the record.

Clerk: There isn’t one.

Dr. S.: Who are you assigned to?

Clerk: You.

Dr. S.: What happens to the people in a stamped report?

Clerk: There aren't any.

Dr. S.: That’s not an answer.

Clerk: It’s the only one anyone uses.

Dr. S.: Can it be reversed?

Clerk: You can always make more paper.

Dr. S.: That’s not what I asked…

Clerk: You can always make more paper.

Dr. S.: Why that sentence?

Clerk: It’s a standard.

Dr. S. reported repeated, involuntary assent during the interaction, including nodding before processing responses. On exit, Dr. S. attempted a facial composite; the result contained shading and contour without identifiable features.

Addendum DS-HEAVEN-4: Incident “WINNING THE RECORD”

During the ninth week of the Western Theater escalation, a senior commander attempted an unsanctioned entry with a folder containing only two pages: a revised timeline and a list of “acceptable outcomes.” The door accepted him. The guard outside heard the stamp once.

The commander emerged with empty hands and a satisfied expression that did not reach his eyes. He briefed staff immediately, speaking in clean, orderly sentences about progress and inevitability. When asked about the missing folder, he frowned as if the question were impolite.

That night, field units reported a lull across the sector and described it as “peaceful.” In the morning, they could not agree what had been prevented. Some swore they’d been spared an assault. Some insisted nothing had been scheduled. Some said they had slept without dreams for the first time in months and felt guilty for enjoying it.

The commander filed his own commendation. The commendation circulated for eight hours before vanishing from every system that touched it. His staff searched for him and found a vacant office with a desk lamp still warm. On the blotter lay a single sheet of paper stamped diagonally, ink fresh enough to smudge.

The sheet contained one line.

WHERE NOTHING EVER HAPPENS.
