Use of SCP-9140 for its intended purpose is strictly prohibited by Ethics Committee mandate. All component parts are to be stored in a secure containment locker at Site-76, and may only be removed for archeological study.
Moving forward, a modified version of the Containment Onion is to be applied to SCP-9140-A instances:
➣ If they do not currently exist, do not create them.
➣ If they currently exist, do not inform them of their status.
➣ If they are aware of their status, Conversion Protocol RETROVERT is to be enacted prior to non-essential interaction.

Description
SCP-9140 is a set of Daevite ritual objects, referred to in translated primary sources as the Imperial Bloodsieve. Its principal component (designated SCP-9140-1) is a carved stone statue, measuring 12.5cm in height. The statue resembles the figure of a pregnant woman, with glyphs carved around its circumference. Above the carvings, there is a groove carved into the stone, measuring 0.7cm in width and 0.5cm in depth.

In addition to the main statue, SCP-9140 also refers to six smaller stone statues (designated SCP-9140-2-1 through SCP-9140-2-6). These smaller statues, each measuring 7.7cm in height, resemble young children. Each is carved with a distinct ritual glyph and a groove of similar dimensions and placement to the one found on SCP-9140-1. These artifacts are intended to be used in conjunction; each must be tied together in a prescribed order using 100% natural twine prior to use.
SCP-9140 was used by Daevite matriarchs and priestesses in the performance of a thaumaturgical fertility ritual, with most documented cases taking place in southern Siberia between 200 BC and 300 AD. During the ritual, SCP-9140 is tied around the waist of a newly pregnant human (Homo sapiens), after which, three female practitioners of thaumaturgy perform a rite involving dance and incantation. It ends with each practitioner drawing a sigil on the subject's stomach in blood. If the rite is performed correctly, the pregnant subject will give birth to a child of the subspecies Homo sapiens daeva. Individuals born following the ritual's successful execution are designated as instances of SCP-9140-A.
UPDATE (October 1995): The Foundation Species of Interest (SoI) database now includes H. sapiens daeva (Daevite) under the designation SoI-140:

Recovery
On 11-26-1991, SCP-9140 was recovered from GRU-P Liquidated Site VIII, located 75 kilometers outside of Pokrovskoye, Russia; a small village in southern Siberia. The object was discovered by Foundation agents associated with Operation: Curtain Cascade in a sector of the site designated for the storage of anomalies not being tested or utilized. Within its locker, agents also located a file of relevant documents and a spool of jute twine.
After recovery, SCP-9140 was placed as one of the lowest priority objects obtained by O:CC. At the time, the existence of the Daevite subspecies was unconfirmed, and its legitimacy was doubted by researchers, informing their decision to shelve the anomaly.
Its associated files were catalogued, and the names of the H. sapiens daeva individuals born through the use of SCP-9140 were cross-checked with the Persons of Interest Database. The search yielded no results, as Junior Researcher ░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░ had not yet been scouted by the Foundation.
Confirmation of Anomalous Nature
On ░░-░░-1995, Junior Researcher ░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░, then stationed at Site-░░ was subjected to a DNA test, as it was suspected that an anomalous pathogen capable of gene editing had spread within the area. While the test did not confirm an infection, it did indicate significant genetic irregularities. After a more thorough investigation, it was determined on ░░-░░-1995 that Junior Researcher ░░░░░░░░ was a member of the previously unconfirmed subspecies, H. sapiens daeva.
